History of Nuclear Energy
In 1934, physicist Enrico Fermi discovered the potential in nuclear energy when he discovered the reaction with uranium atoms and neutrons. In 1942, he discovered that if you use a lot of energy, you can create nuclear fission with atoms which creates nuclear energy. The US then carried out their first experiment of the nuclear bomb in New Mexico in July, 1945. The experiment was proven a success and in 1950s-1960s many nuclear power plants were starting to be made. In 1955, Arco, Idaho was the first US town that was powered by nuclear energy. Although nuclear energy is not the safest, we still continue to use nuclear energy today.
